Senator Merkley Asks for Help to Preserve Job Training Programs

There's a big struggle going on in DC, and I need your help.

The House has proposed drastic cuts to education, job training programs, clean energy, and vital services that working families, small businesses, and seniors depend on. If they’re successful, hundreds of thousands of teachers, nurses, firefighters, and police officers could lose their jobs. The economy would likely slow further, with private employers cutting back again.

Lowering the deficit is obviously important, but shouldn't be done at the cost of jobs and making sure America continues to invest so we can compete in the years ahead.

I’m doing everything in my power to ensure we don't balance the budget on the backs of working families, but I need your help. We have to show what these cuts will mean to real people, not just as numbers on a press release.

That's where you come in. I need you to help me put a human face on this struggle over our nation's priorities.

• Are you worried about losing your job because of the proposed budget cuts?
• Are you planning to pursue a career in the development of clean energy technology?
• Do you depend on student aid to help you afford to go to college?
• Is your business in jeopardy of losing a contract or customers if these proposed cuts go through?

Please share your story about how budget cuts will impact you and your family on my Facebook page

Irresponsible economic policies in Washington helped create the recession that so many are still suffering through. We can't let hard-working Americans be victimized by flawed economics again. Real people's jobs and futures are at stake. Please give me the stories I can use to help make your voices heard on Capitol Hill.

Thanks for your help,

Senator Jeff Merkley
