WorkSource Services Featured at Area Event

Oregonians have been hit especially hard by the recession and our unemployment rate continues to be one of the highest in the nation. WorkSource Portland Metro services have been in high demand and we've been busy spreading the word about all our Centers have to offer.

The Mortgage Payment Assistance Program recently asked us to present a workshop on WorkSource services at a foreclosure prevention event for people facing financial difficulties. The information that we presented on job training, job placement and other support services available at the One Stop Centers proved to be valuable to event-goers.

Alina Harway, event coordinator, said this of our presentation after speaking with an attendee:

"Your workshop was a hit with everyone who attended, and I'm delighted to attest for the helpfulness and friendliness of your presentation. The participant who tracked me down told me that everything that you shared was new information and she was headed straight to WorkSource to get started on finding her new job. She was beaming. You clearly gave her not just new information, tools, and resources, but also renewed hope and excitement about her job search. Thank you again for participating in our workshop series!"

The Mortgage Payment Assistance Program is part of the Oregon Homeownership Stabilization Initiative. The program aims to help at least 5,000 homeowners with their mortgage payments for up to one year to prevent foreclosures.
